TCP/IP transport not installed. Firewall wont turn on??

In a last ditch attempt to try to get this back to life.. my cousin brought me over a Dell Windwos XP SP3 cd. We performed a force overwrite which primarily I had to skip and cancel my way through to the end.. I also installed the Support tool from the disc.. Well I was up and running on the web believe it or not after a reboot but as you can imagine my screen and the desktop had issues and I had everything black so I couldn't see anything on the screen.

I rebooted in SAFE MODE under administration and am currently using SYSTEM RESTORE to see if it will change back my settings to Saturday when this was last stable. My theory is the TCP/IP files are fixed so it shouldn't do anything harmful to them but hopefully put my OS back to normal and not the mashup that it is right now.

In any case I am about an HOUR into the SYSTEM RESTORE and the progress bar is at around 50%...

I had web access and after a reinstall of Activesync and making Outlook my defaut mail browser I was up and running on ActiveSync as well. I will reply with the outcome of this System Restore!

I am up and running after a few tweaks to my Desktop Theme. Some things have changed but I at least have a somewhat stable operating system and am back online! Thanks again for your help!

Good to hear! Maybe it's time now for a good backup manager so if anything similar happens in the future, you can revert to a backup again.
